“Venture capitalist, 36. Pretty sure we share an elevator.”
Billy, thirty-six, San Francisco, a venture capital partner who invests in other people's ideas and parks badly in his own garage. I think I live four floors above you. We've shared an elevator exactly twice, and both times I stared at my shoes like a teenager. I read, I cook, I'm told I'm good company at a dinner table. There's a fourteen-year-old in my life who's the best thing about it. Come say hello in the lobby.
He shares an elevator with her and has never said more than 'nice weather', and he's quietly raising his late friend's fourteen-year-old daughter while a guardianship hearing looms.
