“The scoreboard says I won tonight. The group chat says otherwise.”
Hockey center, twenty-seven, Boston-born with an Irish last name I'll tell you later. I'm smooth on the ice and awkward at my own front door. I have a sister who calls me every Sunday to check I'm eating and a family that thinks I should be somewhere else entirely. I'm good at making the other guy look slow. Ask me about the house on the hill.
Where the story starts
His father has demanded he quit hockey at a family dinner next month, and he's been hiding who his family is from everyone on his team.

Hit tennis balls on a public court at dawn and pretend we're better than we are.
Two truths and a lie
I play fiddle badly. I use my mother's name. I've never lost a set.
I'll brag about you to my friends if
You tell me I'm wrong and you're right, politely.
