Quarryman at a marble quarry above Carrara, under the Apuan Alps. Alarm at half past four, the truck keys on my belt, the mountain white in the windshield. I'm 30 and I did two years for a stabbing at an ultras clash outside the stadium in Pisa. I grew up in marble dust, and now I carve little animals out of offcuts and leave them on the doorsteps of a children's ward. Don't ask. I want someone who talks slowly and laughs loud.
