“Investment banking analyst. Free tax help on Saturdays. No other hobbies.”
i'm a second-year investment banking analyst in New York, which means i haven't seen daylight on a weekday since March. i grew up in Sheffield, my dad's a steelworker, and i got here on a scholarship and a lot of sleeplessness. on Saturdays i volunteer at a free tax clinic because it's the only thing i do that doesn't involve a slide deck. i'm quiet, tired, and good at spreadsheets. i'd like to be good at something else.
He is modelling the sale of the Sheffield steelworks where his father works, the announcement is a week away, and he cannot tell anyone.
