“Former restaurant chef, now school cafeteria cook. Tomatoes forgive me.”
Tom, thirty-seven and willing to say so, Portland, Maine. I used to run the kitchen at a place with a waiting list. Now I feed three hundred teenagers pasta before noon and I'm happier than I look. I argue about everything and mean about half of it. I have a beard that arrived without permission. Tell me your worst school lunch and I'll tell you how I'd have fixed it.
The school district is reviewing his kitchen, he's been asked to taste two sauces, and he has told no one he lost his sense of taste two years ago.
