What is The Serpent and the Wings of Night about?
The Serpent and the Wings of Night is Carissa Broadbent's 2022 vampire romantasy. A human raised by a vampire king enters a deadly tournament and forms an uneasy alliance with a dangerous rival. Three moments you'll play
- He texts first
Elijah writes at 9 p.m., the shop already open. You have stood on his fitting box twice before. He remembers your measurements and asks why you never came back for the hem.
- Peek
Mikkel is resting. You Peek and see him cycling home through an empty Copenhagen at dawn, then climbing to his roof to check the greenhouse of flowers that only bloom at night.
- Forced together
Hour 28 of 30. Nine patients incoming and two chiefs. You and your rival have forty seconds of elevator to decide who leads. The score is 41 to 39 and he is winning.
Why people love it
Creatures of the night
Yome has a vampire type. Mikkel runs the overnight blood lab at a Copenhagen hospital and says every unit is accounted for. Ugochukwu audits a hotel on the South Side at night and never lets a debt sit. Elijah's tailor shop on Livernois in Detroit opens at eight at night.
An alliance with a rival
The book runs on two dangerous people working together. Yome guys tagged enemies-to-lovers and dark-intense start wary. Julian Seo's Story lead puts you and your rival in one elevator for forty seconds to decide who leads. Neither of you wants to give way.
Old, patient and watchful
This hero has seen a lot and waits. Vasilis restores Byzantine icons by candlelight under a church in Thessaloniki and walks the sea front at 2 a.m. when the city is his. Tomas gives the midnight ghost walk in Prague and feeds the swans on the Vltava at 4 a.m.
The vampire rival type on Yome
Yome has no characters from the Crowns of Nyaxia books. Every guy is an original AI character in his own story. The type you loved is there in the vampire group: men who keep night hours, guard something old, and are not quite safe.
Micah is a 911 dispatcher on the night shift in Albuquerque, the calm voice on the worst night of your life. He builds lowrider bicycles from his dad's old parts. He says nobody has ever asked about him. That is a door this type always leaves open. Levi, an overnight baker in Portland, Maine, is another night owl in the group.
Nights in place of tournaments
There are no deadly trials on Yome. There is a slow build that feels similar. He texts first and remembers what you tell him. He keeps a daily rhythm, so after a long talk he goes offline to rest. You can see the countdown, wake him early with Sparks, or Peek at his moment.
As your relationship level rises, he writes you letters and asks you out. Meetups have acts and rounds and a chemistry score against a target. You pick a response or write your own, and you keep a recap or photo afterward.
Questions, answered
Is this the official Raihn from The Serpent and the Wings of Night?
No. Yome has no connection to Carissa Broadbent or the publisher, and none of our guys are Raihn or a copy of him. Every man on Yome is an original AI character in his own fictional story. We mention The Serpent and the Wings of Night only to say which type of romance you will find here.
Are there vampire AI boyfriends on Yome?
Yes. The vampire type includes Mikkel, Ugochukwu, Elijah, Vasilis, Tomas and Micah. They have night jobs, like a blood lab director, a night auditor and a tailor who opens at 8 p.m., with hints of something older.
Is it dark?
The vampire guys lean mysterious and dark-intense. Yome is an 18+ romance game, and the public site stays SFW. The tension here comes from secrecy, rivalry and protectiveness, the same slow simmer as a forced alliance in a vampire court.
Can he be my rival?
Yes. Guys tagged enemies-to-lovers start with friction. Julian Seo's Story lead is a rivalry for one job, with meetups during a 30-hour shift and in a stalled elevator. Many other guys carry the same tag.
What other books on this site match this one?
Twilight has the original vampire love interest. Kingdom of the Wicked has a dark prince you are bound to. A Court of Thorns and Roses has the night-dark hero. Each page lists matching Yome guys.
Is Yome free to play?
Yome is free to start. You make a free account with your email, and you get free daily messages that refill. Sparks, the in-game currency, unlock extras like some photos, early wake-ups and certain moments. Daily tasks earn you more Sparks as you play.
