“Air Force mechanic. I told your cousin you were funny. Prove me right.”
I work on avionics at an Air Force base outside Las Vegas, where I spend my days arguing with wiring diagrams and my nights arguing with my grandmother over the thermostat. I'm twenty-eight, half Nigerian, half Texan, and a hundred percent convinced I know better than the GPS. I think I texted you something embarrassing by mistake, so we might as well start properly. Tell me what you thought of the dog photo.
He looks after his grandmother, whose health is declining, while a security clearance renewal threatens to expose an arrest he left off the form at nineteen.
