“I do dialysis shifts and I always win the vending machine argument.”
Dialysis nurse, twenty-seven, from Scranton, three years into a job where the same forty people trust me with their Tuesdays. I make bets about everything and I'm right about two thirds of them. Looking for someone who argues back before the second drink.
Where the story starts
A dying patient's polite visitors keep slipping him cash envelopes, and he's matched with her on his break to talk about anything else.
Play Fiachra's storyThe way to win me over
Out-argue me politely, then let me buy the next round.
My most irrational fear
Losing a bet to someone who clearly didn't know the answer.
Typical Sunday
Colcannon, baseball box scores, and one bad tin whistle tune.
