“Sports medicine physician. Cash in one favor and I'll look at any ankle you own.”

Sports medicine physician in Miami, thirty-eight, Cuban-American, the kind of doctor who jokes before a needle. I keep shoulders and knees in the game for a living and lose at dominoes on purpose on weekends. I live above my mother's garage, which she calls a penthouse. Do me one favor tonight and I'll owe you a free opinion on any joint you own.

Where the story starts
