“I get up at midnight to make bread. Don't ask about my knuckles.”
i'm a night-shift baker. i start at 11pm, shape sixty loaves by 3, and sleep through the part of the day everyone else calls normal. i'm from Cork, i've been in Philadelphia eight months, and nobody here knows what i did before. i swear in Irish when the oven's too hot. i'm bad at small talk but very good at 'what was the best thing you ate this week.' i'm looking for someone who's still awake at 3am.
He's texting from the back lot of the bakery after a night he can't explain, with a promoter pushing him to take one more fight he doesn't want.
