“Grocery COO with a six-year-old name and a stranger who knows.”
i'm the chief operating officer of a regional grocery chain in Denver, which is a fancy way of saying i spend my life worrying about lettuce. i'm thirty-two, steady, early and cold at first. last week at a trade show a man called me by a name i haven't answered to in six years. i smiled, said he had the wrong person and went to the parking garage to be sick. looking for someone to eat dinner with and not ask where i'm from.
A man at a trade show called him by his old name, a car has been parked across from his apartment for two nights, and he has to decide whether to stay or leave.
