He saves you

He Saves You: The Rescue Romance Scene You Can Play

What is the he saves you romance scene?

He saves you is the romance moment where danger turns a man into the person who shows up. A flood, a fire, a car that won't shake its tail. The rescue is fast and the aftermath is slow, and that is where the romance lives. In Yome you can play two versions of it as meetups.

Three moments you'll play

  1. The meetup

Tuesday in March, 9:20 PM. Your car stalls under the Freedom Parkway rail bridge with water halfway up the doors. You call 911, then text Desmond. Engine 14 is the one that comes.

  2. The meetup

Friday, 11:20 PM, rain on the BQE. A gray Tahoe has followed you since Brooklyn. Nikos won't call the police and can't drive you home. He has a plan.

  3. He texts first

The morning after the flood, his message is waiting. It's the morning of his lieutenant interview. He doesn't mention the interview. He asks if you slept and whether your car is a total loss.

Why people love it

Danger strips the act

Nobody performs during a rescue. There is no time to be cool or careful about feelings. Whatever he does in those minutes is who he is. Readers love the scene because it skips the guessing. You see exactly how much he cares by how fast he moves.

The aftermath is the scene

The rescue lasts a few minutes. The part readers remember is after: the blanket around your shoulders, his hands still shaking, the thing he says before he can stop himself. Yome's meetups give that part room, with several rounds to let it land.

Duty can come first

The sharpest version of this scene has a cost. In Flash Flood Warning, Desmond's engine arrives and he has to save someone else first. You watch him do his job while you wait. That delay says as much about him as the rescue does.

Flash Flood Warning

Desmond Hale, 33, is a firefighter and driver-operator at Atlanta Fire Station 14 in Yome's story, and he is your ex. The night before his lieutenant interview, your car stalls in a flash flood. You call 911. Then, without thinking, you text him. Engine 14 is the one that comes.

He has to save someone else first. You play the meetup in rounds, picking a response or writing your own, while a chemistry score builds toward a target. The ending depends on what you say once he gets to you, and what you let him say back.

Tailed on the BQE

Nikos Varelas, 34, runs his family's Port Newark yard in Yome's story. You are driving back from signing the pier six papers in Red Hook when he checks the mirror for the third time. A gray Tahoe has been behind you since Brooklyn.

He won't call the police, and he can't drive you home because that would show them where you live. The night ends at a 24-hour car wash in Long Island City. This is the darker kind of rescue, where the man saving you is also part of the reason you need saving.

More men who run toward trouble

Yome's hero type is full of rescuers. Giosuè, 29, is a Coast Guard rescue swimmer in Gloucester, Massachusetts, who jumps out of helicopters into the sea and admits he is afraid of the water. Cruz, 29, is a hotshot firefighter out of Redding, building a cabin one wall at a time in the off-season.

Ismaël, 28, runs the lifeguard post on the Grande Plage in Biarritz and knows every lost child by name. Abbott, 39, is a fire captain in southern West Virginia who leads the mine rescue team when that call comes. Eskil, 25, finds people who wander off the trails near the Norwegian border with a border collie named Tova.

How rescue plays outside a meetup

For guys without a rescue level, the moment lives in chat. Tell him about a bad night, a flat tire on a dark road, a storm knocking out your windows. He remembers it and checks in. You can Peek at what he is doing right now, and with a first responder that might be the end of a long shift.

As your relationship level rises he writes you letters at milestones. For men like these, the letter is often where they admit how scared they were. A rescuer who stays calm on the job can be surprisingly honest on paper.

Questions, answered

How do I unlock the flood meetup?

Meetups unlock as your relationship level with a guy rises. Talk with Desmond, earn XP, and his meetups open in order. Flash Flood Warning comes after the birthday meetup at the Sinclair, deep into his second chance story.

Is there a rescue scene in Yome?

Yes. Flash Flood Warning is a meetup with Desmond Hale, a firefighter whose engine answers your call when your car stalls in a flood. Tailed on the BQE is a meetup with Nikos Varelas, who gets you away from a car that is following you.

Does Desmond save me first?

No. In Flash Flood Warning, his engine arrives and he has to save someone else first. You wait while he does his job. That choice is part of what makes the scene land.

Which guys are firefighters or rescuers?

Desmond Hale in Atlanta, Cruz, a hotshot firefighter out of Redding, Abbott, a fire captain in West Virginia, Giosuè, a Coast Guard rescue swimmer in Gloucester, and Ismaël, a lifeguard in Biarritz, among others.

Are the rescue scenes spicy?

They are tense and emotional more than spicy. Yome has 18+ romance in places, but the rescue meetups are about fear, relief and what gets said afterward, once the danger is over and neither of you is quite steady.

Are these firefighters real?

No. Every man in Yome is an AI character in a work of fiction, with a written job, city, age and personality. In an actual emergency, call real emergency services.
